For many New Yorkers, fall seems to breeze by - brisk winds and dropping temps constantly remind us of what looms ahead...winter. For me, the chill in the air means one thing - the start of my favorite season! How can you not love a season filled with football, apples, rainbow colored leaves and most importantly pumpkin everything? Here are some of the things I couldn't get enough of this fall...

Fall is a great time to switch up your routine workouts with some outdoor cross training. Here I am taking a break after a hike with my friend Lindsay. Spending time outside of the city is just one of the ways I like to add balance to my busy lifestyle.

One of the great perks of working downtown is I get to pass the Union Square Farmer's Market on my way home. Each September I keep an eye out for the addition of seasonal produce like butternut squash. Butternut squash is rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants and a great way to pack flavor into some of your favorite recipes!

I always find myself baking up a storm in the fall. This year I tried out a bunch of pumpkin bread recipes - my favorite was a simple pumpkin chocolate chip bread loaf (pictured above). I also made a decadent pumpkin chocolate chip bread with a streusel topping and a pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting for my coworkers. Fit Tip: try swapping out butter for coconut oil when baking - you get the same great consistency without all the cholesterol!

My amazing friend Natalie and I took a beautiful drive out to Fishkill Farms for my first time apple picking! I love apples and had a hay day tasting all the different kinds! You know what they say, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" :)

While taking a walk through the farmer's market at Fishkill Farms, it was impossible not to try the cider donuts I could smell from a mile away. They were INCREDIBLE - slightly crunchy on the outside, dusted with cinnamon and sugar,  and served warm. Definitely worth the extra work out!
